Product authenticity and counterfeit protection with RFID

The constant flow of goods and services across national borders, the frequent use of outsourcing and the heavy reliance on complex supply chains make it more difficult than ever to ensure the authenticity of products.

RFID solutions

Across all business sectors and at all value levels—from high-end luxury goods to everyday household items—the presence of counterfeit goods is increasing alarmingly, posing a serious threat even to responsible companies.

RFID technology, particularly with the latest generation of chips from NXP (NTAG424) and EM Microelectronic (EchoV), offers excellent brand protection and anti-counterfeiting capabilities. Each item can be given its own unique DNA using encryption options.

This makes it easier to track an item as it moves through the supply chain, verifying authenticity, ensuring quality, and protecting people. RFID offers a more comprehensive way to protect your brand, as it supports a multi-layered approach that includes authentication, tracking, and tamper evidence.

Counterfeiters are becoming increasingly sophisticated, with their own complex supply chains, with multiple locations for assembly and distribution, to minimize the likelihood of being caught. Counterfeiters also use technology to circumvent existing anti-counterfeiting methods, making it even more difficult to distinguish between authentic and fake goods. The internet also plays a significant role, providing counterfeiters with a relatively safe working environment and keeping identifications relatively anonymous. These trends make it more important than ever to protect the supply chain, as counterfeit products can (and do) enter the system at virtually any point. RFID technology is extremely difficult to copy or counterfeit and provides a multi-layered defense against supply chain attacks. Using RFID and IoT, you can identify a single item, determine its location, verify its chain of custody (at transfer or sale), and even monitor its condition using sensors (pressure, temperature, etc.). The option of batch counting allows hundreds of items to be counted almost simultaneously and automatically, even if the RFID tag is inside the package. You can confirm that quality checks have been performed or that the item has been stored at the correct temperature. Having all this data at your fingertips makes it easier to manage the supply chain, identify counterfeits, simplify product recalls, and provide evidence in the event of legal disputes. Compared to other anti-counterfeit technologies, RFID performs a more comprehensive task and uses a multi-layered approach to prevent counterfeits, fakes, and unauthorized items from entering the supply chain.

To ensure the best possible anti-counterfeit protection, we work with the customer to select the right chip and package it according to the application requirements.
