Miniaturized RFID tags for the Digital Product Passport (DPP)

The implementation of the DPP (Digital Product Passport) for efficient traceability of products in the supply chain poses particular challenges for many manufacturers, especially if there is not enough space for cost-effective marking such as QR codes.

Our mini transponders can be adapted to our customers' requirements in terms of their form factor. In the textile sector, dual frequency inlays can be used, whereby the UHF part can be used for logistics and the NFC part for the DPP. In cooperation with the customer, we select the appropriate chip with sufficient storage capacity. If the customer is interested in a customized product solution, we offer the option of individual coding of the chip.

Unlike QR codes and barcodes, RFID technology does not require line of sight. They are therefore ideal for products where the DPP is not visible. Depending on the application, both NFC and UHF tags can be used. The advantage of NFC tags is that they can be read with a smartphone, which is ideal for a consumer-oriented application. However, sometimes the focus is on other stakeholders who have different requirements, such as the ability to read large volumes at high speed - e.g. in recycling. In these cases, RAIN RFID tags can be used. The combination of UHF and NFC as a dual frequency inlay with EM4425 chips is also possible. RFID technology is more secure than QR codes and barcodes and enables additional functions at product level, such as authentication and proof of tampering.

The DPP not only enables improved product safety, but also transparency in the supply chain and real-time information for consumers. If required, we can customize the transponder to meet specific requirements.
